LIZ GRAMMENOS

Having spent the first 18 years of my life abroad, I now live near Amersham, Bucks with my Greek husband. Even though I get a lot of inspiration whilst walking in the beautiful woods, fields and hills around my home, I prefer to work using purely memory, imagination, emotion and mood.

I have had very little formal art training having only taken art to GCE O level and, as an adult, went to art classes locally. I was however, lucky to be brought up by my artist parents and was therefore constantly encouraged to play with clay, paint and charcoal. Making a mess was never a problem!

My style of work changes and developes continuously and even though I tend to use mainly acrylics, I do enjoy experimenting with and exploring different mediums and styles. Colour and shape form the basis of my painting and I am constantly seeking new ideas and inspiration both at home and abroad.

I belong to the locally based Beechwood Artists and to Cookham Art Club and have been taking part in Bucks Open Studios for a number of years. However I get the most pleasure painting alongside my three friends and fellow members of Simpatico.
